School tutoring

A practical case

Aurélie has not managed to shake off the idea that numbers are too abstract for her. Even her last report shows that. But there’s no question of having an end-of-year exam.

She will receive one session per week with Anton, one of our instructional coaches. What is the goal ? For her to come to understand that her weakness in maths is mainly due to a mental block. And to help her to prepare herself in the subject.

Preparation for exams

Why do some students manage to do well in their schooling while others, having the same level of knowledge, get poor grades in the exams ?

A great many studies show that students who are confident in their capability handle the period of exams more easily and have a greater chance of performing well.

What is this about ?

Preparation for exams is a sort of intensive remedial work for the «home straight» in one or several subjects. This type of school tutoring is also based on acquiring a method. It consists of:

  • Teaching the student to review in-depth and regularly
  • Teaching him to have structure in his studies
  • Helping him to plan his work and manage his time.
  • Having him go over the subject, question it and do exercises, etc.

Simple formula

Intensive formula

  • - Several subjects
  • - Several intensive sessions/week
  • - 1.5 to 2 hours
  • - Duration to suit the requirement

In what way ?

Preparation for exams above all helps the student draw a positive conclusion about his aptitude for studies. This is also about teaching young people to work on their own, be organised and confident.

And about helping them to re-establish a positive image of themselves and belief in their own capabilities. This is the key to motivation and to turning schooling into a good experience, leading to success in the exams.
